CANCER - Friends Helping Friends

I've come across some pretty amazing people, but it always impresses me when someone truely steps up to the plate. My friend Lance works for a major medical insurance company here in Michigan. I can't tell you who outright but BC (and it's not Before Christ) comes to mind. At any rate, Lance help decides who gets medical coverage and for what.

The daughter of my dear friend Lynn was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Lynn's daughter (who is in her early forties) is totally tapped in the faith department right now. A previous experience with the Mayo Clinic has left her angered and doubtful and her relationship with God could probably use some work.

Lance got on phone with us last night and spent an hour of his time discussing her options. Both Lance and I go to the same naturapathic doctor, Dr. Joel Wallach. Dr. Wallach is a teaching doctor and we all believe there are God-given raw materials on this planet that can keep us healthly and pain free for our entire life. Well, the discussion as you can probably guess turned to getting second and third opinions on ANY surgery needs.

Her local doctors in a perverbial knee jerk reaction started sharpening knives and recommended a full mascectomy, and this was even before any blood work was done or oncologist was seen. Lance gave her hope that there are alternatives out there that offer a blend of homeopathic/natural, spiritual/emotional, as well as Western medicine (if needed).

The Cancer Treatment Center based out of Chicago was Lance's best recommendation if an "all natural" approach was not desired. He went on to say that thier staff is awesome and act as a team to tackle the difficult situation through treatment with nutritional, spritual, emotional and even the latest high-tech equipment and procedures. Certainly a great place for a second opinion.

All of us agree that traditional western medicine has let us down and that our citizens are becoming sicker earlier in life. Cancer is no exception. We've had a war with this disease for over 30 years and still have not been able to improve mortality rates. We have tapped into a huge financial winfall with the treatment of cancer. Just look at all the lavish cancer treatment centers popping up all over the place. It saddens me that most people who entrust thier lives with these places with knowing so little about true nutrition and the importance of nutrient supplementation.

If you know of people who are struggling with cancer and need to talk candidly, please have them drop me a line. I can be reached at: doug@dougni.com or called at: 616.405.2222.

Yours in health,
Doug
